In Pursuit of the Impossible

In order to arrive at what you are not you must go through the way in which you are not.

Is That All There Is?

A never-ending series of ups and downs?
            Boredom… Excitement…
                Restlessness…Focused…
                    Disappointments…Achievements.

A 78 year old man who recently became a two-time lottery winner still lives in his doublewide and drives a new Buick, seemingly untarnished by his newfound wealth. Unlike other lottery winners, he has refused to make major changes in his lifestyle. I wish I knew more of his story, but that was all the information given on the evening news. He must be a special fellow.
Life consists of periods of time interfaced with an occasional change of fortune. C’est la vie! It drives some people mad, literally! It challenges others to rise to the top of the pile, thinking that will supply what has been missing in their lives all those years. So, what accounts for the difference in the ways we react to the ups and downs of our lives?

I Keep Getting In My Way

This is the confession the self-sufficient never make. Recognizing your limitations is the first step to working from your strength. It is also a giant step toward opening yourself to God and a developing a mindset that most people today call spirituality. How do we get out of our own way? Life is short but we do not realize this until two-thirds of our life has been spent. The sooner we synchronize our Timex with God’s Rolex, the better we get a grip on what life is all about. It’s not so much about accumulating things as it is developing meaningful relationships, with God and others around us.
