Grace Baptist Chooses Interim Pastor

On Sunday afternoon, January 17, our congregation chose Rev. Steve Ackerman to be our Interim Pastor. Rev. Ackerman will begin on Sunday, January 24.Following is a short biographical sketch of Rev. Ackerman. Let us continue to pray for our church and for Rev. Ackerman as he provides leadership in the days ahead.

Stephen Daniel Ackerman

I was born in the small South Carolina town of St. George, to deeply committed Christian parents. My mother was into Bible names and named her two boys appropriately enough (my brother is Philip David, and is presently deacon chair in his church); she expected and prayed that God would use us to His glory.

My Dad published the Dorchester county newspaper ("a once-a-week-rag" he called it), and spoke in churches all over low country South Carolina when I was a boy, planting at least three churches. I believe a Godly heritage is a great blessing, and am extremely grateful.

I graduated from high school and Clemson University (1965), then on to graduate from Southeastern Seminary in the small town of Wake Forest, NC.

God gave me a beautiful helpmeet in Linda Wright whom I married August 17, 1968, and we have four lovely daughters (ages 40-30).

We served in churches in Durham, Salisbury, Kannapolis, Charlotte, and Barnardsville, serving the last two of those churches for 13 years each. For the past five years, I have served as an Interim Minister with churches. I love God's Church and I love God's people, and look forward to sharing our lives together at Grace. Thank you for this opportunity.

Souper Bowl Sunday

Help local families in the Asheville community by bringing canned foods with a dollar attached with a rubber band to donate to the WNC Rescue Mission. If you forget the can foods you can just give a donation on your way out of service that Sunday
